Throttle position sensor, alias throttle opening sensor, throttle switch, referred to as "TPS", is a device used to detect the state of the engine and is installed on the throttle body. Its function is to convert the position and opening of the throttle into a voltage signal, and transmit this signal to the ECU, as the basis for the ECU to judge the operating conditions of the engine, used for engine electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, automatic transmission, cruise system And other control systems. The throttle position sensor has two contacts: a fully open contact and an idle contact. When the throttle is in the idle position, the idle contact is closed and an idle condition signal is output to the computer; when the throttle is in other positions, the idle contact is opened to output voltage signals at different angles relative to the throttle, and the computer recognizes the load of the engine according to the signal voltage value; according to the increase and decrease rate of the signal voltage within a certain period of time, it is an acceleration or deceleration.
Working principle
The principle of the throttle position sensor is actually a sliding rheostat. When stepping on the accelerator, the idle signal line is disconnected and the sliding rheostat also rotates. The computer detects the voltage value and compares and analyzes the data obtained by the computer to control the basic fuel injection volume.
